Xiangzhou invests in social projects

Xiangzhou government has injected more than 5 million yuan ($740,180) this year into a special fund to ensure some 21 local projects receive more well-rounded services in the district.

The launch ceremony for the fund was held at Zhuhai's social organization training center on July 19, and sponsored by the Judicial and Law Enforcement Committee of CPC Xiangzhou District Committee.

Four community-based projects, seven social service projects focused on the elderly and families, and 10 projects to care about and educate the underprivileged were chosen to receive the support.

These projects cover various groups in society, each having different service targets, and trying to protect human interests of the most, said an official.

One of the projects is aimed at helping patients abstain from drugs, according to a project leader. Professionals will be invited to give one-to-one counseling as well as a series of lectures to aid in mental rehabilitation and personality reshaping.

Project personnel will be guided and trained on expert-way activities organization.

Xiangzhou set up the special fund in 2013 to attract and lead non-profit organizations in a better way to benefit people, mainly in social management and security, livelihood improvement and community services.

The district is seeing a great enhancement of people's sense of happiness, thanks to more government attention given to it from encouraged innovations in social administration and construction.
