Xiangzhou District, Zhuhai

Zhuhai-based companies Gree, Yinlong and Action won a golden award and nine excellence awards at the Guangdong provincial patent awards for 2016, which was announced on the Guangdong provincial website on July 20. 

The honor speaks highly of the outstanding patent owners and industrial designers. A total of 15 gold patent awards and 55 excellence awards, along with 10 Guangdong inventors, were winners this year. 

Gree Electric Appliances, China's largest manufacturer of air conditioners, won a gold patent award for its newly-produced axial fan used in its air conditioners.

A total of nine Zhuhai companies took home excellence awards, including Yinlong Energy Co Ltd, Action Technology Co Ltd and Zhuhai Landa Compressor Co Ltd, for their high-level technology innovation capacity and latest high-tech products. 

Additionally, Tan Jianming, vice president and a chief engineer at Gree Electric, was awarded Guangdong Inventor.

Gree Electric shone brightest at the awards ceremony because it took six of the 11 awards for Zhuhai companies. The company is generous in investing in science and technology research. It has nine research institutes with more than 10,000 researchers. 

Last year, the company was ranked seventh on a national list for applying 3,299 patents and having 871 patents authorized.
