Xiangzhou District is accelerating the renovation and rebuilding of its old industrial areas to make room for high-end manufacturing and hi-tech industries.
The government urged related departments to provide timely services for 19 renovation projects that have been approved. Greater importance should be attached to the construction of Aoyuan Square and the renovation of the old factory on Xingye Road, making sure they are smoothing as scheduled, according to the government.
The Xiangzhou government published Several Opinions of Accelerating Upgrade and Transformation of Old Industrial Areas to give an overall planning of repurposing the old areas for wider industrial use.
The policies separate land into "two belts and one area" – Qianshan-Nanping Industrial Belt, Jiuzhou-Nanwan Avenue Industrial Belt and Demonstration Area of Innovation and Entrepreneurship in northern Xiangzhou – to lay out new advanced development centers. The total area occupies six million square meters.
Meanwhile, 221,800-sq-m urban vacant areas outside Xiangzhou’s industrial zones, plus 180,000-sq-m will be used for headquarters and hi-tech enterprises.
It was a smart decision made at the right time as Zhuhai is growing to provide modern services and manufacturing business for Hong Kong and Macao and even for overseas companies, said a local enterprise leader. He also believed Xiangzhou will become Zhuhai's development example.
