Xiangzhou community committee featured on CCTV

A committee in Nancun community was featured on CCTV, China's national broadcaster, on June 10, highlighting Xiangzhou's commitment to improving people's daily lives.
The committee, established in 2016, is one of three currently being operated in the Zhuhai district, to solve disputes and issues at grassroots levels.
The 10,000 residents and 4,000 households in Nancun community have been able to resolve problems such as the sharing of public facilities and poor sanitation, in a more efficient manner thanks to the installation of the committee.
A negotiation committee established in Nancun community in Xiangzhou District holds its monthly meeting to put forward solutions to public issues.
In 2016, the community voted in 107 representatives to act coordinating responsibilities independent of house-owner committees and conventions. The committee guarantees that 50 households each have at least one person to speak for them.
The committee operates with the guidance of experts, in conjunction with government systems and regulations.
A co-inspection mechanism has been established with property management companies to solve problems in a collaborative manner.

In addition, committee members have the ability to gather various opinions on community sanitation and cultural activities from the public through surveys and visits so that they can put forward viable solutions.
A special fund of 210,000 yuan ($30,905) has been provided to carry out public welfare projects, 55,000 yuan ($8,094) is provided by the government.
