Xiangzhou: fertile ground for innovation

Xiangzhou-based Zhuhai 4D Age Technology has become one of seven Chinese partners for Expo 2017 to be held in Astana, Kazakhstan in June.

Expo 2017 is one of the largest international expos of the decade and this year will be themed on the future energy.

China has become the first to sign up as an exhibitor with the largest display area of 1,000 square meters. To enable all interested visitors unable to visit the China Pavilion exhibition stall at the event or at home, 4D Age, a leading visual effects service provider, will provide virtual reality (VR) technology create an online visiting experience.

"We use an encryption technique to compress documents to kilobytes in size, which costs users little mobile traffic," said Zhang Fei, one of the founders of 4D Age. "However nano-scale precision is still achieved to ensure every detail."

Zhang claims it was their core technology that helped 4D Age win the honor, which without government support and an innovation-focused business environment could not have been realized.

As of 2016, the Zhuhai district owns 284 high- and new-technology enterprises (HNTEs) with 159 newly added, the number of which surpasses any other part of Zhuhai. They include many bellwethers to lead areas of household appliances, printing consumables and new energy.

A number of startups in emerging industries have established themselves in Xiangzhou, taking advantage of comprehensive government services with the hopes of becoming champions in their respective fields.

Earlier this year, the Xiangzhou government issued a series of regulations to support innovative development to providing greater incentives and an improved services platform.

Government officials claim that the policies will boost enterprises' enthusiasm to become high- and new-technology enterprises, as well as strengthen their determination of pursuing new development.
