The 28th China Refrigeration Expo, the world's largest, opened in Shanghai on April 12, attracting some 1,200 exhibitors from 33 countries and regions including Gree Electric Appliances.

The most famous brands in the fields of HVAC&R (Heating, Ventilation, Air conditioning, Refrigerating) gathered at the Shanghai New International Expo Center to display their latest products during the annual three-day expo.

Gree Electric Appliances, the world's largest residential air-conditioner manufacturer had a high profile at the event. The company is located in Xiangzhou District, Zhuhai of Guangdong Province.

At the expo's largest stall, Gree showcased their world-leading technologies across five categories such as household central air conditioners, core components, freezers and refrigerators.

The self-developed maglev frequency centrifugal chillers and compressors attracted the most attention. Compressors are able to run in oil-free conditions, which significantly reduce mechanical loss and energy consumption.

Green energy-saving technology has also been applied to the chillers. According to analysis, if 15 percent of existing buildings in China replace their air-conditioning units with the Gree-developed water chilling unit, approximately 1.8 billion kilowatt hours will be saved per year, equaling 1.6 billion yuan ($232.8 million).

Also in the limelight at the show was a new mass-household heating system that uses air-sourced heat pumps instead of coal to supply heating, meeting heating system reforms in accordance with national conditions.

An academic seminar was held the same day which was focused on how to apply air source heat pump technology in heat supply for cold regions.
