More than 1,500 attended a pair of job fairs where nearly 2,000 jobs were up for grabs, offered by 70 Zhuhai enterprises including Mektec Manufacturing and Zhuhai Seine Technology. With jobs as quality inspectors, shop assistants, and supervisors on offer, nearly 35 percent of all attendees signed agreements on the day.

The day's events were co-organized by Zhuhai and Xiangzhou District's women's federations, the Human Resources and Social Security Bureau of Xiangzhou District, and Xiangzhou Human Resources Center.

The recruitment drive comes after government research into the local labor market and the introduction of job subsidies for hiring businesses.

The government also opened training classes this month where attendees learnt valuable computer skills, as well as being taught how to make coffee like a professional barista and mix drinks like a bartender.
