Gree's latest solar air conditioners gain US certification

The latest solar-powered air conditioners of Gree Multi Units (BMW) series by Gree Electric Appliances were certified and met the standards of Underwriter Laboratories (UL) in the US on Feb 10, a global first for similar products.
The products were certified at a launch ceremony held at San Juan, Puerto Rico, for Gree products aimed at entering the North American market.
The air conditioners adopt the VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) system and make highly-efficient use of the energy supplied by the photovoltaic cells, avoiding wastage during power production. When the photovoltaic power is charged sufficiently to power the whole system, no electricity from the central grid is needed.
In addition, the air conditioners generate just 2 percent harmonic wave, much lower than that of traditional air conditioners, which means the product creates significantly less signal interference to other electric appliances.

UL is the most famous product certification and standards setting authority in the US, raising requirements for product safety and reliability.
"We pay great attention to the quality of products to ensure safe and reliable consumption, which coincides with Gree's philosophy," said Brian Ferriol, director of UL's Business Development. "I believe we will have further cooperation with Gree."
Jerry Vega Rivera, sales director for Gree in Puerto Rico made a speech at the ceremony, pointing out that the island mainly uses fossil fuels to generate electricity, resulting in high costs and pollution. Gree's latest air conditioner is a more efficient, energy-saving option for many people.
Established and headquartered in Xiangzhou District, Zhuhai, Guangdong with the vision of "a clearer sky and greener earth", Gree is a Chinese pioneer in air conditioning R&D, manufacturing, marketing and service. It is now world’s largest residential air-conditioner manufacturer and ranks 385 on the Forbes Global 2,000 and No 1 in household appliances industry.
Gree started using photovoltaic systems in its air conditioners as early as 2013 and keeps in step with the laws and regulations of the photovoltaic industry in US.
According to insiders, in the two years since Solar BMW enters the US market, the company has experienced rapid growth and vast orders for its products.
