The cultivation and introduction of talents remains high on Xiangzhou District's development agenda, with innovation competitions, skill contests, big conferences of emerging industries and other government-sponsored activities running throughout 2016.
Key enterprises such as Gree Electric Appliances Inc of Zhuhai and Zhuhai Seine Technology in Xiangzhou District of Zhuhai in South China were brought new vitality in early March by learning from Shenzhen's experience in sci-tech innovation concerning intellectual property rights (IPR), capital operation, and project management. The event, organized by Organization Department of CPC Xiangzhou District Committee also included on-site visits to some of Shenzhen's key research institutes and technology groups.

Talents in Xiangzhou not only enjoyed favorable government policies but also benefited from various lectures and recruitment events. They also stole the limelight at many skills competitions and innovation contests.
The 2016 Xiangzhou Craftsmen Competition took place in September, attracting more than 270 electricians, automobile mechanics, and office software operators. The competitors showed off their abilities during a two-month-long series of activities held at the Nanping Science and Technology Park. The three-month-long 2016 Xiangzhou Sci-tech Innovation Competition was also a showcase for innovation-oriented talents. Some 1,300 entrants from home and abroad competed against each other in the fields of internet technology, medical treatment and big data. The champions were crowned across the event's two major categories -- a startup category and Zhuhai-based scientific enterprise category. The winners shared a total investment of 5 million yuan ($721,189) and were granted with government incentives.

Firms and talents were not the only ones keeping pace with the development trend. In July, government officials took the opportunity to learn more about how Zhejiang Province, especially Hangzhou, serves startups and innovative projects.
Government departments also organized a series of activities to promote enterprise-school cooperation, introducing high-end talents with high education background from outside Xiangzhou as well as developing local outstanding graduates.
