Xiangzhou District, Zhuhai

A recruitment fair with more than 2,000 jobs up for grabs took place in Xiangzhou on Feb 9, attracting some 1,000 graduates and returned migrant workers, 44 percent of which signing employment intention agreements on the day.

A total of 42 enterprises, including Gree Electric Appliances Inc of Zhuhai, and Zhuhai Topsun Electronic Technology, attended the event held at the Nanwan Human Resources Market. The companies sought quality inspectors, engineers, and clerks, to help them expand in the New Year.

According to officials, the return rate of employees to Xiangzhou enterprises after the Spring Festival holiday is generally satisfactory but still results in varied labor shortages. 

Gree Electric Appliances currently needs more than 1,300 workers to carry out electrical engineering and welding work. Many jobseekers were attracted to the company's average employee salary for permanent staff, which ranges from 4,500 to 6,000 yuan ($654 to 872).

The activity was organized by the Human Resources Center of Xiangzhou District, after evaluating enterprises' labor demands and production scale, as well as the employment situations of graduates from vocational technical institutes.
