Zhuhai accommodated nearly 3 million travellers, a year-on-year increase of 10.5 percent, during the Spring Festival travel rush from Jan 13 to Feb 5.

By Feb 5, approximately 877,000 people travelled via the city's highways while 379,000 people travelled via waterways. Railway stations handled 1.13 million travellers and the airport provided services to 614,000 people.

According to an analysis from the city's transportation bureau, railway transportation played the most vital role during the Spring Festival holiday (Jan 27- Feb 2). The railway system handled some 355,000 people, accounting for 40.5 percent of the overall passenger transit during the week.

In terms of civil aviation, Zhuhai Airport conducted 1,314 flights and transported more than 183,000 passengers, up 46 percent and 62 percent respectively year-on-year to hit a record high. 

The airport opened more check-in counters and provided guides to help travellers, increasing the boarding efficiency and ensuring greater security.
