The art center, located at the Ronghong Plaza, borders the historic Nanping Dongdajie Street. It cost more than 4.3 million yuan ($623,641) to build and will provide 2,000 square meters of activity space. The venue is divided into two main zones, one having rooms for activities such as calligraphy, painting and dancing. The other is culture-related, including an e-reading room and an exhibition room for intangible cultural heritages.

The center used to be a kindergarten and government buildings, but after a six-month construction period, some of the art center's rooms have opened to the public.

The project is expected to be fully-finished in March, according to officials. The center is expected to be a comprehensive and multi-functional cultural base.
