Charity warms Xiangzhou’s winter

Charitable acts carried out by Xiangzhou's 30 volunteer teams consisting of more than 500 members, were demonstrated and promoted at a charity sale at the Ningxi Cultural Plaza on Dec 11.
Some of the items such as handmade nougats were sold to raise funds for disadvantaged children who are unable to hear.

A large number of locals took part in the event, spending generously to help those badly in need.
Also joining the fundraising activity were 13 Zhuhai shops who donated four percent of their earnings for the day to public welfare establishments.
One of the aims of the event is to provide some recognition to the volunteers who provide assistance to people in their spare time.

The event showcased how the volunteers help the disadvantaged groups, protect the environment, and use innovative technology to improve lives.
The most dedicated volunteer teams and individuals were honored by the Xiangzhou government.
Government officials proposed an initiative to encourage better care of disadvantaged groups in society, and vowed to give more professional training to volunteers, as well as help promote the activities they initiate via internet platforms.

The event was also attended by Xiangzhou District Chief Executive Liu Qiying and Party Committee Secretary Yan Haobo.
