Year-long art event draws to a close in Xiangzhou District

A year-long series of events aimed at promoting arts and culture in Xiangzhou and Zhuhai concluded at an open air concert at Haibin Beach in Xiangzhou District on Dec 10.

The arts events, launched by the Xiangzhou government in March, were divided into four categories based in the seasons: calligraphy, songs, dances and photography and painting exhibitions.

The most popular performances during the annual calendar of events were staged at the closing ceremony, which attracted more than 1,000 people.

Ten choirs from Xiangzhou gave rousing choral performances on the day. 

The highlight of the day was a rendition of the much-loved folk song Let us paddle performed by 100 children.

The events were sponsored by the Xiangzhou District Municipal Publicity Department; the Culture, Sports, and Tourism Bureau of Xiangzhou; and the Xiangzhou District Federation of Literary & Art Circles. 

More than 1,000 artists from 330 clubs and teams from across Xiangzhou performed at the events, attracting more than 200,000 people.
