A comprehensive demonstration of martial arts satisfied kung fu fans in Xiangzhou, as more than 50 delegations consisting of over 100 martial artists from across the country performed on Nov 12 to 13.
Hong Kong, Macao, Hunan province, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, and other regions sent their best martial artists to demonstrate their skills in striking and grappling at Xiangzhou's second martial arts cultural festival at the Ningxi Cultural Plaza.
Practitioners, aged from five to over 50, displayed different schools of martial arts, such as Nanquan (Southern Fist), Baijiquan, a style focused on elbow and shoulder strikes, and Wing Chun, considered the world's most technically advanced and devastating form of hand-to-hand combat.
The event also featured a boxing competition where Li Xuanyu from Zhuhai's Thai boxing association defeated Hunan's challenger to claim the title on Nov 13.
The annual event is sponsored by Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of Xiangzhou District and is aimed to offer a platform for martial artists to learn from each other and deepen friendships.
