Xiangzhou District, Zhuhai

The effort of Zhuhai's Xiangzhou District to promote community culture among local citizens manifested itself in the form of a chorus competition held on Nov 6.

The competition attracted 15 choruses from across the district to take part. They expressed the regard for their homeland and wishes for a prosperous life in their performances at the Zhuhai Wenyuan Middle School.

A highlight of this year's event was that more original works were staged, demonstrating the achievements made by local government in promoting community culture.

Wanzai Overtone Women's Choir and Xiangwan Art Troupe took a joint first prize. The competition also featured 10 top choruses in the region.

Xiangzhou District has held a series of events aimed at igniting local passions for arts and culture, including competitions in opera, calligraphy, and painting.
