A report released on Oct 13 states that of 74 monitored cities, the 10 with the best air quality during the past nine months were Haikou, Zhoushan, Huizhou, Xiamen, Zhuhai, Lishui, Shenzhen, Fuzhou, Lhasa, and Zhongshan. The top 10 in September alone were Haikou, Zhoushan, Fuzhou, Lhasa, Xiamen, Lishui, Huizhou, Taizhou, Harbin, and Zhangjiakou.
The report provides evidence that 80.3 percent of the average daily air quality was satisfactory in the 338 cities above prefecture-level nationwide, up 2.6 percentage points, while the proportion for the nine cities in the Pearl River Delta was 90.1 percent, 1.5 percentage points higher year-on-year.
Statistics show that particulate matter concentration around the nation declined dramatically this year, reflecting a growing tendency in overall air quality, announced a researcher from the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences.
