Xiangzhou District, Zhuhai

Xiangzhou’s creative and artistic people have taken center stage at an art festival held in Zhuhai since August, winning awards in many contests and promoting the vibrancy of local culture.

The two-month Zhuhai Public Art Festival has attracted participants from all walks of life, be they folk artists, singers, square dancers, choreographers, or traditional Chinese music artists.

Some 100 Xiangzhou residents took part in the festivities, netting six golds, five silvers and six bronzes.

All of Xiangzhou’s performers, with the help of community trainers, did the district proud.

A particular highlight of the festival was the mountain folk songs of the Yi ethnic group performed by a participant from Xiangzhou’s Qianshan Street, who sang about sweet harmony of the remote mountainous regions.
