Huitong Village, located in the Jinding Town of Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, is secluded in the foothills of Fenghuang Mt. In the 1830s, three groups of people surnamed Mo, Bao, and Ouyang came to the village from different places and built it together, hence the village got its name "Huitong", meaning joining together in Chinese.

The village has a history of over 170 years. The pattern of its settlement and planning indicates its people’s admiration for nature. The Mok's abstinence hall, also known as "Qixia Nunnery", watchtowers, ancestral halls and well-organized dwellings of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) have formed a complete group of ancient buildings characterized by Lingnan architectural features as well as those of modern times.

Its courtyard-style layout of houses, ancestral hall carvings, and watchtowers and gates show the modern dwelling culture of Xiangshan area. As the best preserved village in Zhuhai, Huitong village epitomizes comprador culture represented by the Mo family and typifies the combination of continental and marine culture in village construction.

It embodies the history of Zhuhai’s cultural, social and economic development over the past more than one hundred years, and is a living example of Lingnan area’s modern history.
