Workers piled into the D4 plot of the Nanping Science and Technology Industrial Park on Sept 20 to begin the construction of the Baso Biotechnology Park.

When completed, the Baso Biotechnology Park will cover 11,033 sq m in total area with floor area of 20,000 sq m, serving as a center for R&D, manufacturing and sales focusing on reagents and medical device testing.

The project has a gross investment of 110 million yuan ($ 16.5 million) from Zhuhai Baso Diagnostics and Cell Science & Technology Institute, based in Japan. The project is expected to be completed by the end of the next year, after which it will comply with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) principles and regulations. It is hoped the park will receive full GMP industry certification and come into operation by July 2018.
