Jazz players from around the globe filled the air with music at the seventh Beishan Jazz Festival and Haizhu Beer Carnival, held in Zhuhai from Sept 16 to 17.

First to hit the stage were Korean funk and electronic group, HG FunkTronic, whose style has been described as “walking hormones”.

Three-time Grammy award winners Veronica Nunes & Ricardo Vogt, and Italian band Fabio Accardi e Convidados played a set which was greatly appreciated by the audience.

Spanish singer Dom la Nena and Idiot Fish 3 from the US played next, their maverick set a whirlwind of electronic drumbeats and video projections.

Multitalented Macedonian Vladimir Cetkar took to the stage to perform his unique mix of jazz, soul and funk. Chinese Mixed Feelings Jazz Band carried on the good vibes, performing a set combining eastern and western styles.

The highlight of the festival came from Japanese singer Emi Meyer, who blew away the audience with her powerful and spiritual voice.

Beishan Music Festival is one of the most important jazz festivals in China, and is held at the over 800-year-old Beishan Village in Nanping Town of Xiangzhou District in Zhuhai.
