Ethnic and exotic performances in the moonlight, DIY lanterns, and riddle-guessing will be among the not-to-be-missed experiences at Haibin and Xianglu Bay beaches on Central Lovers Avenue in Jida during Mid-Autumn Festival.
The main celebrations will take place on Sept 15, featuring a series of modern song-and-dance performances, including several ethnic minority and Western-style shows to be staged on Haibin Beach, also dubbed City Parlor.
On Xianglu Bay Beach, a beautiful Chang’e -- the Chinese goddess of the moon -- and her companion rabbit will “reappear” with a spectacular song and dance of their own.
The festival will also provide incentive to take care of the environment. Litter bags will be available throughout the event, and anyone who collects a full bag of trash can exchange it for a free bottle of water at designated places. There will be three exchange points at Haibin Beach, two at Xianglu Bay Beach, and one at Fenghuang Bay Beach.

Those who love DIY fun will be sure to seek out the lantern-making stalls, where they can use their imaginations to create personalized traditional lanterns. It can also be a pleasure to stroll down the beach carrying one’s own beautiful creation.
Puzzle-lovers will enjoy searching out the 100 red lanterns hung around the beach. Attached to each will be a ribbon with a riddle to solve.
Visitors can try to guess the solutions to the riddles when they exchange a bag of litter, make a purchase at one of the designated stalls, or take part in games. Anyone who can crack a riddle will receive a special prize.
Other big prizes will be given away by the organizers: Zhuhai Xiangzhou Zhengfang Holdings and the Zhuhai Daily.
Due to the estimated crowd of 20,000, visitors will only be able to enter the venues through 10 channels and exit through nine with security gates after 7:30pm. Pets, bikes, and any hazardous articles are not permitted inside.
