The four community parks, which cost 16.8 million yuan ($2.5 million) are designed to offer leisure, entertainment and fitness facilities to the public. They are located at the junction of the Renmin West Road and Mingzhu North Road, turning the previous deserted land into a gathering place for locals.
Occupying a total area of 20,000 square meters, the Cuijing and Shangchong parks have a capacity of 1,000 people. The Mingzhu North and Cuiping parks will be half the size, at 10,000 sq m.
The landscaped parks will be home to a total of three football fields, two basketball courts, three badminton courts, four rest areas, two performance stages and two children’s play areas.
“I’ve lived here over two decades and I am so happy that this place will be turned into parks,” said Mr Deng, an elderly local. Deng said that he would be able to take his grandson to play in the children’s area, and that his wife could dance on the large public stage.
