Xiangzhou seeks e-commerce development

Xiangzhou District of Zhuhai joined hands with China’s largest foreign trade service platform, OneTouch Business Service, at the 2016 Zhuhai Cross-border E-commerce Ecological Summit on Aug 26, boosting the city’s foreign trade development.

OneTouch, a subsidiary of e-commerce giant, Alibaba Group, serves as an online platform providing import and export BPO (business process outsourcing) services to China’s small and medium-sized cross-border trade enterprises.

Some 120,000 enterprises, including about 1,000 in Zhuhai, now make transactions using the platform. The value of export transactions using the e-commerce platform was 100.2 billion yuan ($15 billion) in 2015.

At the summit, president of OneTouch, Wei Qiang, made a speech on foreign trade, services and industry development. He vowed to share data and information with local exporters and supply chain companies, promoting upgrading by offering tailored services.

He Yemin, deputy mayor of Zhuhai, expressed a positive attitude towards the strategic cooperation and said Zhuhai’s international trade development looked set to step into a new era.

The summit was co-organized by the Xiangzhou government and Zhuhai Municipal Bureau of Commerce.
