Founded in 1960, the Second People’s Hospital of Xiangzhou, Zhuhai, is a second grade comprehensive hospital for medical treatment, preventive medicine, health care, health education and scientific research. 

The hospital has 285 working staff, of whom 248 are professional medical staff and 75 are of middle or senior medical level. It has more than 10 clinical departments, including surgery, orthopedics, gynecology and obstetrics, and a general practice with over 200 sickbeds.

The hospital is equipped with Philips spiral CT, DR, Color B ultra, and a fully automatic globulimeter, biochemical analyzer, chemiluminescence apparatus, and electrocardiogram inspection tester, as well as other large or medium sized diagnosis and treatment devices including an ECG monitor, breathing machine, defibrillator and ultrasound stone breaker. It is also equipped with a laminar flow operating room with three anesthesia machines as well as endoscope centers for gastro, intestinal and ear-nose-throat treatments which accommodate more than 2,000 patient visits per year.

In recent years, the hospital has been actively attracting talents by hiring famous specialists and drawing in professionals for all staff training, which has highly promoted its professional level. It was designated a baby-friendly hospital by the state early in 1994, and ratified as one of Zhuhai’s first designated medical institutions for social medical insurance in 1998. It was prized by the Guangdong Provincial Government as an advanced collective for fighting SARS in 2003 and listed as one of Guangdong’s first health examination institutions for restaurant staff in 2011.

It started joint party building with Zhuhai Second People’s Hospital in 2012. Together they set up an expert outpatient service, teaching in ward rounds, two-way referrals and high-end green channel systems and mechanisms. The Zhuhai Second People’s Hospital provides it with 12 experts in pediatrics, neurology, endocrinology and cardiology, a benefit to local residents. Overall medical and health services reform is carried forward by the hospital, with all its medication sale prices stabilizing at whole sale cost in March, 2015.

The Nanping Town community health service center, owned and managed by Zhuhai Second People’s Hospital of Xiangzhou, is an integral health care institution for medical treatment, preventive medicine, rehabilitation, health education and family planning, providing convenient and economical health service especially for women, children, patients with chronic diseases and the elderly.

The center is composed of departments of general practice, traditional Chinese medicine, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, stomatology, maternity and child care, family planning, child health, and vaccinations. It also assists in Nanping Town’s health supervision.
