Xiangzhou District, Zhuhai

Zhuhai has just been approved by the central government as the annual site of the International Circus Festival, instead of continuing to be the biennial host, according to Chimelong International Ocean Tourist Resort. 

The resort announced that the 3rd International Circus Festival will be held at Chimelong International Circus City in Hengqin New Area from Nov 18-27 this year. The original plan was for it to be held next year. Twenty-one performances from 17 countries are expected to be staged.

Preparations are well under way. Based on the experiences of the previous two sessions, the event will innovate to excel, a government spokesperson said.

Having successfully hosted the past two sessions of the International Circus Festival, Zhuhai has been crowned “the most suitable place” in China to hold the event by Urs Pilz, president of the Fédération Mondiale du Cirque.

This year, the 11th China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition will take place in Zhuhai from Nov 1-6. The seaside city will enhance its international profile again by hosting these two global events in November.

Chimelong International Circus City saw 30 circus troupes from 20 countries and regions such as China, Russia, Sweden, Germany, the US, and North Korea at the 2nd International Circus Festival from Nov 1-12 in 2015.
