The Smart Manufacturing and Industrial Internet Summit Forum was held in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, on Sept 11.

More than 1,000 government officials, company leaders, industry experts, and scholars from China and abroad gathered to discuss the development of the global internet of things industry and current trends in smart manufacturing.

The event featured keynote speeches from 15 renowned experts, including Li Peigen, member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Toshio Fukuda, director of the Microelectromechanical System Lab at Japan’s Nagoya University, Thomas Nolting, chairman of the Institute for Automation and Industrial Technology.

One highlight of the forum was the Academician Dialogue, which featured a panel including two members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xiong Youlun and Ding Han, and a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Yang Huayong, as well as several business leaders.

The dialogue was designed to explore ways to convert the participants' vast knowledge and experience into concrete ideas for increasing productivity in smart manufacturing, improving the competitiveness of Chinese industry.

The China Electronic Standardization Institute launched its preliminary standards for “smart manufacturing capability and maturity” during the forum. The standard aims to provide enterprises with professional and detailed analysis reports and to help them learn about their own smart manufacturing operations, as well as provide them with advice about their future plans.
