Established in July 1992, the Ninghe Economic Development Zone, with a controlled planning area of 17.28 square kilometers, is a provincial and municipal economic development zone approved by the Tianjin Municipal People's Government.
Through continuous improvement of its investment environment, infrastructure, and services since its establishment, the zone has attracted a large number of domestic and foreign investors and formed four leading industries: machinery manufacturing, metal products, high-end packaging paper, and food processing.
Since 2020, the economic development zone has promoted industrial structure adjustment and highlighted the development of supporting industries for high-end equipment manufacturing, auto parts, and intelligent manufacturing, expanding its industrial chain and scale.
The economic development zone currently has 160 manufacturing enterprises including 47 industrial enterprises above designated size, 16 national high-tech enterprises, and 20 national science and technology enterprises. In 2020, the total industrial output value of the zone was 45.3 billion yuan ($7.16 billion), its domestic direct investment was 2.041 billion yuan, its tax revenue totaled 1.868 billion yuan, and its general public budget revenue reached 657 million yuan. As many as 16,000 jobs were created in the year.
