Under the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation mechanism, the Cambodia Luban Workshop was unveiled on Oct 28, 2018. Jointly established by the Tianjin Sino-German University of Applied Sciences, the National Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia and related enterprises, it is currently the largest workshop of its kind. In its first phase, 18 training rooms were prepared for mechatronics and communication technology majors, with 1,613 sets of equipment and 133 sets of teaching resources.

The project trained 62 seeded teachers, 130 international students, 1,916 formal schooling students and 794 adults in Lancang-Mekong countries. Teachers and students have won a total of 49 awards in international and domestic competitions, and have also registered 18 patents, having received more than 4 million yuan ($587,569.96) in research funding from enterprises. The government, enterprises and schools have held a series of "Lancang-Mekong Week" activities.

The workshop innovates a "College-Bachelor-Master" package training model for international students. Integrating vocational training, academic education, scientific research, culture promotion, innovation and entrepreneurship, the project has become a cradle of high-quality technical and skilled talents in the Lancang-Mekong region.
