On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Portugal, the Tianjin Vocational College of Mechanics and the Electricity and Polytechnic Institute of Setubal jointly built the Portugal Luban Workshop to promote cooperation in vocational education between the countries.

On Dec 5, 2018, the mayor of Tianjin and the mayor of Setubal signed an agreement to jointly build the workshop. Located in the library of the Polytechnic Institute of Setubal, the workshop covers an area of 650 square meters.

The workshop has four training areas and 16 pieces of equipment, including modem electrical control systems, automated production line installation and debugging equipment, industrial robots and intelligent vision systems.

In the first phase, the workshop offers majors in industrial robotics and electrical automation technology. It has developed two international teaching standards and five sets of bilingual textbooks featuring modern manufacturing technology.
