Located in Addis Ababa, where the headquarters of the African Union (AU) is located, the Ethiopia Luban Workshop was jointly built by Tianjin University of Technology and Education and the Ethiopian Technical University, and was inaugurated on April 28, 2021.

The two cooperative institutions jointly hold and executed the China-Africa (Ethiopia) Friendship Competition on Industrial Robot Technology Application for University Students on 4 June, 2022. This facilitated the China-Africa technical skills exchange and cultivated high-level technical talents based on the platform of the high-end professional equipment and Cloud Classroom facilities of the Ethiopia Luban Workshop. The workshop has been set up at the AU headquarters as a technical and skilled personnel training center for African countries. It offers academic education and technical skills training connected with the three majors of Manufacturing Technology, Electronics and Communication Technology, Electrical and Control Technology for the cooperative institution in the field of artificial intelligence. The workshop implements the "China-Africa Universities 20 plus 20 Cooperation Project" of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, and the East Africa Skills for Transformation and Regional Integration Project (EASTRIP) of the World Bank to train vocational teachers for East African countries.
The Ethiopia Luban Workshop implement Industrial Control System training for local teachers in April, 2022. The workshop has provided more than 2,400 class hours of the EPIP standardized progressive training for five batches of local teachers and students in the first year of operation. Ethiopia Luban Workshop creates a China-Africa model for producing and training of high-level vocational teachers for the East African countries.
