China shall ramp up efforts to foster leading brands and platforms with the Luban Workshop as a major representative, as the workshop has innovated vocational education overseas and cultivated high-caliber talents to aid in readjusting the global industrial layout.

Jin Yongwei, a member of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and president of the Tianjin Academy of Education Sciences, made these remarks in an interview during this year's two sessions in Beijing.

Jin urged central authorities to further improve the institutional construction of the Luban Workshop, which is designed to offer high-end technical skills training that can help foreign college students meet the requirements of the emerging global market.

He also suggested setting up a national-level comprehensive coordination agency and giving full play to the Luban Workshop Construction Alliance in the consolidation of various resources held by both universities and enterprises in order to resolve problems and difficulties that are confronting the workshop in its growth.

According to Jin, Luban Workshops should convey Chinese modes, experience and wisdom, represent the characteristics and strength of China's vocational education, and help nurture new models of Chinese vocational education abroad.

More efforts should be made to promote the integration of domestic practices featuring collaborations between universities and enterprises with the overseas expansion of the Luban Workship program and take into consideration the latest developments in education and industries abroad when providing local technical personnel with vocational training and facilitating the growth of local economic and social affairs.

In addition, the nation should invest more to promote the theoretical and practical research of its overseas vocational education programs, as well as select and foster a large number of research institutes to conduct fundamental, forward-looking and applicable studies of the internationalization of vocational education.
