A training session to improve the English listening and speaking skills of Luban Workshop faculty members was launched at Tianjin Foreign Studies University (TFSU) on Nov 14.

The Luban Workshop program, which is named after Chinese craftsman and inventor Lu Ban of the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 BC), is designed to better vocational education, as well as align with the Belt and Road initiative and provide prospective students from other countries with technical skills training.
During the event, TFSU Vice-president Li Yingying offered congratulations at the start of the session. She said the university will focus on the pressing needs of the program's staff members in the development of their English skills and fully leverage its resources and strengths in instructing foreign languages to enhance the efficacy of the training session and accelerate the international development of vocational education.
Director of the Tianjin Luban Workshop Research and Development Center, Yang Yan, spoke about the overall progress of the program, expressed thanks to TFSU for its assistance to the program, and called on trainees to equip themselves well and achieve their full potential.
Zhang Chunmei, a teacher from the TFSU School of Continuing Education, briefed trainees on their curriculum arrangement and learning methods, and said she will work closely with them and strive for common achievements during the training session.

The training session was held by the Department of Vocational Education of the Tianjin Municipal Education Commission, the Tianjin Luban Workshop Research and Development Center, and Tianjin Vocational Institute with the support of the TFSU Department of International Cooperation & Exchanges and the TFSU School of Continuing Education.
Attendees included over 30 teachers from 17 Luban Workshop partner universities, including the Tianjin Vocational Institute, Tianjin Agricultural University, Tianjin Sino-German University of Applied Sciences, Tianjin College of Commerce and Tianjin Machinery & Electric Industry School.
