As an important stopover on the migration route of birds, Tuanbo Lake in Tianjin’s Jinghai district has become an ideal home for birds thanks to its abundant water and grass resources and superior wetland environment. Each year, about 50,000 birds inhabit the lake area, including nationally protected first-class and second-class animals.

In order to maintain biodiversity and ecological balance, as well as to achieve harmonious coexistence between humans and nature, in recent years, the Tuanbo Bird Nature Reserve Management Committee has implemented active ecological restoration measures, increased inspection and protection efforts, and carried out special actions to vigorously crack down on illegal activities that may damage the resources of the reserve to build an ecological barrier.

Li Yanhuan, deputy director of the Tuanbo Bird Nature Reserve Management Committee in Tianjin, stated that since the beginning of this year's migration period, the number of migratory birds has reached approximately 30,000 to 40,000, with an increase of about 10,000 compared to the same period last year. Moreover, the distribution area of birds has also become more widespread.

Over the years, Jinghai district has adhered to the concept of "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets", and insisted on prioritizing local ecology. It has actively explored new models of wetland protection and utilization through implementing water system governance, degraded wetland restoration, fish relocation, and other series of ecological conservation and restoration projects, enabling Tuanbo Lake to earn the reputation as being the "lungs of Beijing and Tianjin".
