In recent years, Dongli district has taken the development of its productive service industry as an important starting point for building a modern industrial system in the region, which has created a good growth environment for local enterprises and provided strong support for the high-quality development of the economy.
Walking into the production workshop of Pinggao Group Co., Ltd., the staff are stepping up production of a batch of energy storage equipment orders to be sent to South Africa. One energy storage unit can store 5,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity. The whole order contains over 90 sets of equipment, and the order value sits at 1 billion yuan (about $145 million). This project is not only the first overseas chemical energy storage project of Pinggao Group, but also the electrochemical energy storage project with the largest monomer capacity in Africa.
According to Zang Sijia, the main designer of this project, during the development stage of the equipment, the company has made improvements based on the actual operation status, in a bid to guarantee that the products will meet operating needs in 20 years. The company has the confidence and is striving to catch up with foreign equipment integrators in the future.

Meanwhile, the New Energy Vehicle Technology Innovation Base of China Automotive Technology & Research Center Co. Ltd (CATARC) completed construction and has been put into operation. The base has built a comprehensive test building of 116,000 square meters, supporting more than 1,000 sets of test equipment. Compared with traditional fuel vehicles, new energy vehicles are more vulnerable to electromagnetic environments, therefore an electromagnetic reverberation room has been built in the new energy innovation base, in which, the test can be completed within an hour, compared with several days previously.

Over the past five years, 163 projects in Dongli have received 266 million yuan in support from Tianjin's special fund for intelligent manufacturing. The modern service industry is also constantly upgrading, and the development of productive services, such as research and development, inspection and testing, and modern logistics, has been accelerated. Last year, the revenue of professional technical services increased by 19%. During the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period, Dongli district will continue to lead the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries with intelligent manufacturing.
