The rice paddies in Dongli, with a total area of 10,000 mu, have already entered the harvest season. According to a survey on the agriculture, the output of Dongli district this autumn is expected to exceed 22 million kilograms.

Three years ago, Wang Hongjian, member of the Huaming Yonghe stock economic cooperative, contracted 1,000 mu of abandoned land and transformed it into paddy fields. Over the past three years, the rice yield per mu has increased from 1,100 kg to 1,450 kg. The rice yield has increaed year-on-year. It is estimated that the total rice yield this year will also exceed 1.45 million kilograms. The rice purchase price has also steadily increased.
This year, the areas of rice and corn farmland in Dongli district have reached to 12,000 mu and 28,700 mu respectively. The planting area of autumn grain has achieved restorative growth for three consecutive years, which is one of the main reasons for the increase in the total output of autumn grain.
Moreover, the increase in the output of autumn grain is also a result of the government's promotion of new technologies. At present, the region has applied over 20 practical technologies for planting rice and corn, as well as in their harvest. The mechanical harvest rate has increased to 98%.
In order to stabilize and expand the planting area of grain, Dongli district continues the strengthen the support provided to the production of agriculture; increasing planting subsidies, agricultural machinery subsidies, and social service subsidies, which have effectively mobilized farmers' enthusiasm for grain planting.
This year the farmlands have suffered from diseases and pests. The agricultural and rural departments of the district have monitored and implemented related policies, so that the loss has been controlled within 5%.
