Over the past decade, the Dongli Water Affairs Bureau has constructed new water safety infrastructure, completed a series of systems for water management, and promoted the conservation of water resources, the prevention of drought, and the protection and restoration of water ecology. The water safety of the region has been improved, which has supported the high quality development of the local economy.

In the past ten years, Dongli has completed its clean river project, managing 568 sewage outlets along the primary and secondary rivers, and laying 44 kilometers of sewage interceptors, effectively reducing the pollution flowing into the river. The area of the greening project of Dongli Lake expanded to 348,000 square meters.

Dongli also implemented the ecological restoration of its rivers, and made the water cleaner by introducing ecological floating islands and other measures. In addition, the government organized the investigation and management actions of the water environment, comprehensively cleaning up floating waste on the water surface so as to provide strong support for the improvement of the ecological environment.
The Dongli Water Affairs Bureau has focused on strengthening the capacity of flood controls, improving the water ecological environment and ensuring agricultural water use. It has completed a total investment of 1.35 billion yuan (about $190 million) in water affairs, built a number of high-quality projects, and achieved outstanding results in flood control, irrigation and ecology. In addition, the government has improved the level of water resource conservation and utilization, ensuring the water supply for the green and high-quality development of the regional economy and society.

The comprehensive management of overexploitation of groundwater has achieved promising results. The local government has insisted on the integrated management of groundwater overexploitation and the prevention of surface subsidence. The annual average surface subsidence decreased by 87.5%, and the groundwater level continued to rise.
Dongli has been aiming to improve the city’s infrastructure construction and making the living environment more habitable for its residents. The whole region has achieved full coverage of a sewage pipe network, and the urban drainage and waterlogging prevention capacity has been continuously improved, providing strong guarantees in peoples’ daily lives.
