Zhou Enlai exhibition heads to Tianjin

An exhibition themed on the life of Zhou Enlai (1898-1976), the first premier of People's Republic of China, is now on at Nankai University in Tianjin, the city where the great revolutionary and politician spent years, in the seventh stop of its national tour. He attended the Tianjin Nankai High School from 1913-17.

More than 60 paintings, jointly created by Li Shigang, Li Shidong and Liu Hailong, are on show until May 18. They chronicle the life of Zhou marked by many historical events he experienced which defined the course of the country to national independence and modernization, such as the Long March (1934-36) and the Bandung Conference, which took place in 1955.

The three artists donated dozens of their paintings to the university at the exhibition's opening on April 21.
