Foreign companies upbeat about Tianjin, more investments

Foreign enterprises remain upbeat about investment prospects in Tianjin with more capital increase in the northern China port city.

Flender, a leading global supplier of mechanical drive systems based in Germany, launched the 10th phase of capital increase of 300 million yuan ($41.9 million) to expand its Tianjin subsidiary. Its last capital increase of over 400 million yuan was in 2021.

"We know that half of the world's wind turbine market is here in China. That requires even more investment," said Martin Kaufung, director and CFO of Flender Ltd., China.

China's green drive to achieve carbon peaking by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060 offers huge business opportunities for investments in clean energy.

The company official said they are quite confident that they are in the right market at the right place.

Airbus also remains upbeat about the development in Tianjin.

Airbus delivered the 600th A320 family aircraft assembled at its Asia final assembly line in Tianjin on Sept 23. It is also expected to roll off the first A321 aircraft in Tianjin in a few months.

Novo Nordisk currently has seven new investments ongoing at its Tianjin plant. Since 1995, the global healthcare giant has expanded its investment in its facility in Tianjin eight times to boost its local presence.

The Tianjin facility is not only one of its strategic manufacturing sites but also its largest insulin production location.

Eyeing China's huge and more open market, comprehensive industrial system, and improved business environment, many foreign businesses are betting big on their investments.
