The Binhai New Area has a new hydrogen station, ensuring supplies for the upcoming 2022 Beijing Olympic Winter Games and Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

The Tianjin Hydrogen Development Company in Binhai’s Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone successfully completed a 72-hour test and produced qualified hydrogen.

The completion and commissioning of the project will help the Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone become a hydrogen energy supply center and provide a high-purity hydrogen source for the upcoming Beijing Games and the green development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei city cluster.

Construction on the project started in December 2020 with total investment hitting 60 million yuan ($9.4 million). The company has agreed to offer the energy to cities such as Dalian and Zibo. It is expected to produce 1,600 tons annually, as well as revenues of more than 10 million yuan.

Green energy is regarded as one of best ways to realize China’s carbon neutrality goal.
