With all 133 COVID-19 patients in Tianjin cured, the local government is now trying to prompt a return to normality by steadily resuming services.

According to Zhou Lu, deputy director of Tianjin Commission of Commerce, 32 of the nearly 60 key shopping malls and commercial complexes in Tianjin had resumed operation as of March 12.

According to a guidance announcement issued by the authority, these malls are required to undertake a wide range of measures in an effort to reduce contagion risk, including implementing distancing between customers, scanning them before entry, and requiring the wearing of masks.

Zhao also issued a reminder that all the shopping malls have adjusted their opening hours for sufficient sanitation.

Stores in shopping malls involving educational training, entertainment, cinemas, fitness, and wedding services are temporarily suspended from resuming business.

The guideline also requires malls to enhance ventilation. They must turn on the fresh air conditioning system if they have it, and turn off the return air system.

A minimum one-meter distance between tables needs to be ensured for customers who are eating-in.
