The tight bonds and close cooperation between key industries in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, such as its automotive, biomedicine, and electronics sectors, have been self-evident during the coronavirus outbreak.

Committed to the coordinated development of the region, Tianjin is working closely with the other two areas in supporting the operation of the industry chain and in the supply of preventative materials.

For making notable achievements in fighting the novel virus together, the city’s government received a letter of appreciation on March 5 from its Beijing counterpart. The letter praised the authority for prioritizing the urgent needs of companies in the capital and taking effective measures to support supplies of virus prevention products.

As of yesterday, 188 Tianjin companies have resumed work, without accident, as required to support 22 ‘upper stream’ companies in Beijing, according to the Tianjin Municipal Industry and Information Technology Bureau.

18 of 19 cooperating companies in Tianjin have also restarted production to support Beijing BOE Group, a key display product supplier of medical equipment.

In addition, TEDA in Tianjin has recently signed a deal to provide a ton of ‘flat mask’ raw materials to Xiongan New Area in Hebei province.

On the other hand, companies in the port city have also received timely help from the other two regions in areas like accessory supply and on-time equipment delivery.

By Feb 20, Tianjin’s total of 53 companies that support Beijing Benz have resumed work.

Similarly, 16 companies in Tianjin that support GE Healthcare have all restarted operation.

Though the city focuses on facilitating the regional economy, it is taking the prevention and control of the epidemic as equally important.

It is pushing forward the return to work of its medical sector, addressing any problems encountered by the companies which are important in providing preventative supplies.

Industry resumption has been progressing smoothly in the region due to the coordinated inter-governmental efforts of the three provinces and municipalities.

Next, Tianjin will join with the other two areas in strengthening links between the region’s star industries such as new-generation information technology, new energy vehicles, and biomedicine, as planned in a framework agreement reached last year by the three regions.
