On Nov. 10, in Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city, Jingdong's first unmanned restaurant officially opened for business.
With an area of nearly 400 square meters, the restaurant can accommodate and serve up to 100 people using only intelligent robots and artificial intelligence.
Many "early adopters" came to try the whole new robotic service which goes like this: customers place their orders, the central kitchen prepares the ingredients according to standardized recipes, robot cooks perform the actual cooking, and finally delivery robots send the cooked dishes to the table.
Customers are amazed at the robot chefs' delicious dishes.
Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City, a major cooperation project between China and Singapore, is in a bid to build a smart city. It is vigorously developing the smart industry, accelerating the creation of smart city demonstration zones, and building a version of Tianjin's Intelligent Model which can spread across the country.
Unmanned restaurants are another step that Jingdong is taking in intelligent logistics and retail. As an innovative attempt to integrate smart technology with the catering industry, JD.com is transforming and upgrading traditional industries through artificial intelligence, robotics, big data and other technologies, enabling unmanned technology to have a broader application space, said Xiao Jun, Vice President of Jingdong Group.
Combined with unmanned restaurants, unmanned supermarkets and distribution robots and other smart industries, Jingdong's intelligent living has taken shape in Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City.
