The 11th International Roundtable of Multinational Corporation Leaders (IRMCL) was held at the Yujiapu International Finance Conference Center in Tianjin Binhai New area on Nov 1st and 2nd.
The meeting, held annually since 2007, plays an important role in promoting mutually-beneficial cooperation between Chinese and foreign multinational corporations.
Coinciding with the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening up and the 5th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative, it is expected to be productive.
Zheng Wantong, vice-chairman of the 11th National Committee of the CPPCC and president of the China International Council for the Promotion of Multinational Corporations (CICPMC), presided over the meeting. UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres sent a congratulatory letter and ex-UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon sent a congratulatory video.
Nine guests delivered keynote speeches. Topics of roundtables this year included economic globalization, China's high-quality economic development, China’s financial openness and regulation, intellectual property protection, social responsibility of business leadership, and the Belt and Road initiative and global economic growth.
Du Qinglin, president of the China Economic and Social Council, honorary President of the CICPMC, and co-chairman of the IRMCL Organizing Committee said in his opening remarks that China will firmly adhere to all-round, multi-level, and wide-ranging opening-up to share co-prosperity.
Zhang Yuzhou, party secretary of Tianjin Binhai New district, mentioned Binhai's important role in sharing valuable pilot zone experience and its rapid development in AI, new energy, and bio-technology as it undertakes 1,600 projects worth 360 billion yuan ($51.97 billion).
Over 600 representatives from some of the world’s top 500 multinational corporations and officials from Chinese governments and international organizations attended the meeting.
It was co-sponsored by the CICPMC, the United Nations Development Programme, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, the United Nations Environment Programme, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, the United Nations Global Compact, the University for Peace and other institutions, as well as the Tianjin Economic and technological Development zone.
