Talents in internet plus, intelligent manufacturing and biological medicine have recently proved to be the most wanted in Tianjin Binhai New Area, meaning they can expect generous salaries. Annual salaries of professions like senior casting engineer, mechanical design engineer, automotive industry quality manager and software development engineer have reached 180,000 yuan ($28,000).
“According to different positions and responsibilities, the monthly salary is roughly in the range of 10,000 to 30,000 yuan. The salary of these positions in foreign companies may be even higher,” said a local headhunter consultant.
At the 4th Tianjin Free Trade Zone Talents Festival and Spring Talent Intelligence Exchange Conference held on May12, Cashway Technology Co., Ltd, a financial equipment manufacturing company from the Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone, provided dozens of positions for JAVA software engineers, C++ software engineers, electronic engineers, structural engineers, software test engineers, maintenance engineers, and IT service supervisors.
"Tianjin still has a lot of room for talent development in the software industry. High-end talent is relatively scarce,” said a Cashway human resources representative. “Therefore, our company's senior technical staff can earn more than 10,000 yuan a month, let alone employee benefits."
At present, Binhai New Area is in its critical period of development. The “2018 Binhai New Area Urgently-needed Talent List” published in April this year shows that more than 6,000 talents are now in demand, involving 52 industries including Internet, e-commerce, financial factoring, high-end commerce, biomedicine, new energy and new materials, automotive manufacturing and other fields. The shortage of high-end talent posts is mainly in international logistics, financial trade, numerical control engineers, foreign exchange market analysts, environmental assessment engineers, and electrical engineers; talents in extremely short supply include big data analysts, communication system designers, polymer technicians, and algorithm design specialists.
Ji Xueying, director of the economic research department of the Municipal Party School and director of the Chinese Academy of Science and Technology for Development, said that in the past the economic development of the Binhai New Area was mainly driven by manufacturing and heavy chemical industries. In recent years, the area has actively promoted industrial transformation and created industrial clusters and has achieved certain advances in the fields of biomedicine, Internet, big data, and intelligent manufacturing. How to boost these industries to a higher level as soon as possible is the current issue.
Ji also pointed out that while regional development is looking outwards to attract talents, it should not neglect talents in the region.
