Binhai New Area has been focusing on developing education by introducing high-quality educational resources from home and abroad and striving to accomplish a significant improvement in the overall strength of the area's educational institutions.
There are a few newly-built elementary and high schools in Binhai, including Nankai Elementary School, which reopened after 80 years, No 1 Tianjin Binhai School and Binhai High School Affiliated to Beijing Normal University etc.
Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Binhai has continued its educational investment, rising from 534 million yuan in 2012 to 2.677 billion yuan in 2016. The total investment reached 7.235 billion yuan in five years, an annual average of 49.9 percent. By the end of 2016, there were 324 universities, schools and kindergartens in Binhai, indicating a remarkable enhancement in educational services.
This year, Binhai is planning to promote the coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin and Heibei in education. There will be more effective exchanges between schools and kindergartens in the three areas as well as the implementation of a new mechanism to promote the communication between the principals. The plan is to send around 30 principals to different schools and kindergartens in the three areas for an on-the-job training program. Furthermore, Binhai will also carry out the cooperation agreement regarding education with cities like Tangshan and Cangzhou. Through exploring its advantage in industry and professional education, Binhai hopes to attract higher education institutions in Beijing as well as renowned domestic and foreign schools to set up new campus or disciplines in this fast-developing, education-oriented area.
