The international edition of xuetangX.com, an online education platform under Tsinghua Holdings, was selected as an Industrial Innovation Model at a commendation conference of the 2020 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) in Beijing on Sept 5.

xuetangX.com, initiated by Tsinghua University in October 2013, was China's first MOOC platform. It is a research exchange and results application platform of the Online Education Research Center of the Ministry of Education.

Currently, the platform runs more than 3,000 high-quality courses of universities around the world, including China, the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia, serving more than 60 million registered users worldwide.

On April 10, 2020, xuetangX.com was selected as one of the first international online teaching platforms for universities by the Ministry of Education. Ten days later, its international edition was released.

The international edition, based on the research and development of the platform’s own brand-new intellectual property structure, integrates with the Chinese version, and supports various online education forms such as MOOCs, live lectures and certificate programs.

xuetangX.com uses electronic encryption and blockchain technologies to enhance the credibility of online course certificates and remove border restrictions.

As of the end of August, online courses on the international edition of xuetangX.com numbered nearly 300, and participants totaled nearly 40,000.

In the 2020 CIFTIS’s education services exhibition area, xuetangX.com displayed its smart teaching platform -- Rain Classroom -- which helped 1 million teachers from 825 Chinese universities teach online, benefiting 18 million students during the epidemic. The efforts and explorations in the digital transformation of education service, online universities for enterprises, and professional talent training were also exhibited.

Themed "Global Services, Shared Prosperity", the 2020 CIFTIS showcased new technologies and innovations in the services sector that are expected to reshape people's lives for the better. It attracted participation by international organizations, embassies in China and overseas business associations from 148 countries and regions, as well as 18,000 domestic and foreign companies and institutions.
