Tsinghua Unigroup ranked 15th for authorized invention patents

Tsinghua Unigroup was recently ranked 15th among China's top 100 enterprises in terms of authorized invention patents in the first half of 2020 according to data from the intellectual property industry media outlet IPRdaily and the incoPat Innovation Index Research Center.
This year, the group's subsidiary firms H3C, UNISOC and Yangtze Memory Technologies Co (YMTC) all made major breakthroughs, achieving a total of 725 patented results.
Among them, UNISOC, a leading semiconductor company, released the industry's first new-generation 5G SoC mobile platform with 6nm EUV process technology – the Tiger Ben T7520.
Meanwhile, YMTC, a world-class memory solution provider, introduced the first 128-layer QLC 3D flash memory chip in its sector, and H3C, an industry leader in the provision of digital solutions, rolled out its first high-end router chip.
In the first half of this year, the number of invention patents authorized by the State Intellectual Property Office was about 220,000; 81.04 percent of them were granted to Chinese applicants (excluding compatriots in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan).

Notably, eleven of the top 100 firms received more than 1,000 patents. Patents with higher patent value (appraised at 9-10 points) increased to over 86,000.

Judging from the perspective of IPC classification, the patents' technical compositions are mainly concentrated in the five categories of G06 (calculation; counting), H04 (telecommunications technology), G01 (Measurement; testing), H01 (basic electrical components) and A61 (medicine or veterinary science; hygiene).
