Fujian ranks first in aircraft seat imports in first 11 months
A batch of aircraft cabin seats worth approximately 30 million yuan ($4.26 million) arrived at Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport on Dec 18. The seats were subsequently transported to HAECO Xiamen for a cabin retrofit project commissioned by a foreign airline.
As of Dec 16, HAECO Xiamen had completed maintenance work on a total of 206 inbound aircraft, setting a record high for the period.
With the recovery of the global aviation industry, market demand for high-end cabin equipment, such as premium aircraft seating, continues to expand. Coupled with the scheduled maintenance cycles of major airlines, cabin modification services are expected to see further growth.
From January to November, Fujian province imported 590 million yuan in aircraft seating, a year-on-year increase of 140 percent and accounting for 77.7 percent of the national total imports of such goods. It also ranked first in import scale nationwide. In November alone, imports reached 52.46 million yuan, surging 2.5-fold year-on-year, marking 14 consecutive months of growth.
Statistics show that the United Kingdom is the primary source of aircraft seating imports for Fujian, with purchases totaling 310 million yuan from January to November.
Over the same period, imports from Germany reached 130 million yuan, while imports from the United States amounted to 57.07 million yuan.
Why Xiamen
-
Xiamen is one of the most economically competitive cities in China and was one of the first Special Economic Zones on the Chinese mainland. As a vice-provincial city independently listed on the State development plan, it has provincial-level authority in economic administration and local legislative power. In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
