The arrival of a Boeing 787-8 for maintenance on Dec 10 pushed Xiamen's 2025 inbound aircraft repair volume past its 2024 total, with 203 aircraft cleared to date, and the year-end total forecast to exceed 210.

Xiamen Aviation Maintenance Base is China's largest integrated aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) hub. It clusters leading international firms such as HAECO, ST Aerospace, and Honeywell, offering a full spectrum of services: aircraft heavy maintenance, passenger-to-freighter conversion, business jet completion, engine and landing gear repair, avionics maintenance, component manufacturing and repair, and technical training.

In the first 10 months of this year, the base maintained strong growth momentum, with total revenue reaching 16.45 billion yuan ($2.33 billion), already surpassing last year's total.

To address over 80 percent of overseas orders, authorities pioneered bonded maintenance outside special zones — a national first — enabling guarantee waivers, tax rebates, and ledger management. This "bonded warehouse + maintenance" model now covers engines, parts manufacturing, and more, reducing annual guarantee costs by 2.2 billion yuan.
